On Sunday March 26, 2017, the campus of the University of South Alabama had its on Holi Festival to celebrate a traditional Hindu holiday.
Holi Fest was created to celebrate the beginning of Spring, the end of Winter, and peace. To practice forgiveness, love, and happiness. It signifies the win of Good over evil.
The practice is most popular in places that have Hinduism as their main religion like India and Nepal. But the celebration has spread all around the world and is shared throughout different religions.
Every year, the night before the Holika Bonfire, communities come together and spray each other with different bright colors (we used chalk) to celebrate happiness. Next year it will be March 2nd so you can google places in your area that are having the festival so you can join in!
